What is an Agile Architect?

An Architect (in terms of software development) is responsible for high level understanding and system design.  In an agile world, this is still the case, but an “agile” architect utilizes different lean/agile ideas when approaching system design.  Some of these ideas include emergent design and close collaboration with the agile team(s).


What Certifications are Available?

There is not a hard and fast rule when it comes to certifications.  Therefore we will break certifications up into 3 categories:

Yes: This certification directly helps this role.

Maybe: This certification could help this role.

No: This certification is not needed for this role.

Certifications to Consider

This first set of certifications focus specifically on developers and technical practices, so they are excellent options for architects that will be working as part of an agile team to help them understand concepts and strategies to be able to work in an agile manner.

Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) – Yes
