What is an Agile Developer?

The term “Agile Developer” is somewhat of a misnomer. “Agile Developers” are software developers, but the key distinction and why the term exists is that these developers have a specific mindset and utilize principles and practices to support agile development.


  • Agile Developers focus on producing high quality code
  • Agile Developers focus on constantly maintaining their code through practices like refactoring
  • Agile Developers focus on building software through small additions and changes in functionality so they can get fast feedback
  • Agile Developers utilize practices like automated unit testing and automated builds so they can focus on delivering solutions quickly

What Certifications are Available?

There is not a hard and fast rule when it comes to certifications.  Therefore we will break certifications up into 3 categories:

Yes: This certification directly helps this role.

Maybe: This certification could help this role.

No: This certification is not needed for this role.

This first set of certifications focus specifically on developers and technical practices, so they are excellent options for software developers that will be working as part of an agile team to help them understand concepts and strategies to be able to work in an agile manner.
