What is a Product Owner?

The Product Owner role on agile teams is the business/customer representation.

 What Certifications are Available?

There is not a hard and fast rule when it comes to certifications.  Therefore we will break certifications up into 3 categories:

Yes: This certification directly helps this role.

Maybe: This certification could help this role.

No: This certification is not needed for this role.

Certifications to Consider

A Product Owner is typically responsible for working close with the agile team to define the needs of the user and elaborate user stories to a point where the team can implement them.  The Product Owner also accepts or rejects the story when finished.  They may work directly with users, or may work with a Product Manager who interfaces with the users.  So it is important for a Product Owner to understand how and when to break down and elaborate user needs and requirements.
